What if you didn’t buy disposable Christmas wrapping paper and wrapped your gifts ecologically instead?

There are many ways to wrap gifts ecologically. For example, you can use a beautiful page out of a newspaper, a fitting comic, a piece of cloth in the cupboard or even a leftover piece of wallpaper. That way, you can fight throwaway culture one gift at a time.

The wrapping can also be part of the gift, such as a kitchen towel, a scarf or a pair of wool socks.

The Japanese know how to wrap gifts in fabrics and scarves. Google furoshiki you'll find a range of sophisticated techniques for wrapping a gift using a thin piece of cloth.

Pleaser remember to also properly sort your traditional Christmas wrapping paper as mixed waste.

Ecological gift wrapping and furoshiki gift wrapping were suggested by Lumo resident Iina, who was rewarded for her idea with cinema tickets.
