Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Lumo.fi webshop, where users can rent Lumo homes owned by Kojamo Plc online. The statement was originally created on 9 May 2025 and last updated on 5 June 2025.

Kojamo Plc is committed to ensuring the accessibility of the Lumo.fi webshop in accordance with the national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the accessibility. Our goal is to provide equal opportunities for everyone to rent an apartment online.

The digital service complies most of the accessibility requirements

The most critical user flows on the Lumo.fi webshop — such as apartment search, rental process, and contact request submission — have been thoroughly audited by an independent accessibility expert organization. All critical issues identified during these audits have been resolved. In addition, the website’s accessibility is continuously monitored using automated evaluation tools. Lumo Homes also employs an in-house UX designer with specialized accessibility expertise. Since May 2022, accessibility considerations have been systematically integrated into all website development activities.

Content Not Accessible by Category

Perceivable

  • WCAG 2.0 – 1.1.1 Non-text Content (Level A)
    Some images on the Lumo.fi webshop previously lacked alternative text. We have added descriptive text to all images where it has been technically feasible with the current platform. In future technology selections, we will ensure better support for this requirement.
  • WCAG 2.0 – 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) (Level AA)
    A small number of text elements on the site still have insufficient contrast between text and background colors. These issues will be addressed in upcoming updates during 2025.

Robust

  • WCAG 2.1 – 4.1.1 Parsing (Level A)
    On apartment detail pages, some lists marked with <ul> elements include dash characters that are not compliant with accessibility requirements for list content. This issue will be resolved as part of a broader redesign of the apartment pages during 2025.

Disproportionate Burden

The webshop includes over 100,000 apartment images, many of which currently lack alternative text. Due to limited human resources, it is not feasible to provide descriptive text for all existing images. Based on the recommendation of an accessibility expert, these images have been hidden from screen readers. Additionally, we are focusing on ensuring that the accompanying apartment descriptions are as informative and descriptive as possible.

Content Outside the Scope of Accessibility Legislation

The applicable legislation covers only the webshop. The Lumo.fi website also includes the Lumo Living blog platform, which is not within the scope of the current accessibility legislation. However, we are committed to improving the accessibility of the blog as well and have already addressed critical issues identified there. However, accessibility issues specific to the blog platform are not listed in this statement.
